Dermal Fillers

Plump thin lips and reduce facial creases in minutes

Facial Balancing

  • Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. A gel-like substance, with varying strengths, is used to restore volume loss, or augment an area to enhance the facial features.

  • Filler is injected into the face to add volume, add structure, soften wrinkles, and overall refresh the look of the face.

  • Results are instant! May take 2 to 4 weeks for the final result due to the healing process.

  • Area must be completely healed (2 to 4 weeks) before adding another syringe of filler to the same area.

  • Sometimes it is best to dissolve hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers before filling the area again. This is most common in the lips. If you have any lumps or bumps, or migrated filler, it's time to use Hylenex. This is not negotiable.

  • Results may last between 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of filler, the body’s metabolism, and how many times you have been treated in one area.

  • Areas treated with filler: cheeks, chin, smile lines, lips, lip lines, jawline

  • I do not perform under-eye filler

  • Brands: Allergan Juvederm, Merz Bellotero, RHA collection, Galderma Restylane

Pre and Post Instructions

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Complete all paperwork emailed to you including health history and consent forms.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours prior to treatment. Alcohol increases swelling and bleeding, which causes more bruising and longer healing times.

  • Avoid NSAIDs, aspirin, or other OTC/herbal remedies that may cause increased bleeding. Please contact Hanna Collins NP-BC, MSN if you are taking any prescription medications for anticoagulation such as warfarin.

  • Avoid any dental work or dental cleanings 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Be sure to schedule any dental work/cleanings for at least 2 weeks after your dermal filler appointment.

  • Avoid any vaccinations in the 2 weeks leading up to your appointment. They may cause increased risk for a sensitivity reaction.

  • You may start taking an arnica supplement for a few days prior to your appointment.

  • For any questions, do not hesitate to contact via email, phone, for text.

Post-care instructions for Dermal Filler:

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the area. Avoid pressure to decrease the chance of moving filler or creating indentations. Try to sleep on your back for the first 2 nights.

  • To avoid infection, always wash hands before applying Aquaphor and/or moisturizer on day 1. Do not use a product that may have bacteria from previous use with fingers or directly applied to lips.

  • Swelling and edema are normal. Icing 20 minutes per hour for the first 48 hours is recommended.

  • Arnica gel or pills may help with the appearance of normal bruising and swelling.

  • Do not drink alcohol for 48 hours as it will cause increased swelling and bruising.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours, and resume all other normal activity.

  • Makeup may be worn the following day.

  • For lips only: On day 3-4, you may begin to softly massage or smoothing the lip tissue. This will help the filler integrate into your lip tissue without lumps or bumps. I recommend doing this in the shower. It may be tender, but you shouldn’t be rough.

  • All other areas: Filler is moldable for about 5 days. If you notice any bumps or lumps after the initial swelling has gone down, reach out to me. We will make a plan, which may involve a quick appointment for a massage.

  • Avoid extended UV exposure until the redness and swelling has subsided. As always, use SPF and reapply.

  • It is recommended to wait 2 weeks before any other skin care or laser treatments.

  • If you experience any concerning symptoms such as worsening pain, swelling, bruising spreading in or around the treatment area, fever, the area is hot to touch or draining white milky fluid, please call me immediately.

  • Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
